Manuel Bruzos / ReACH Lab Manager

Manuel Bruzos is the ReACH Lab manager. He received his B.A. in Psychology from Florida International University (FIU). He is currently completing his master’s degree through the Professional Counseling Psychology program at FIU. He is also a graduate assistant at FIU’s Center for Excellence in Writing. Before being a part of ReACH, Manuel was in Dr. Joseph Raiker’s research lab (Program for Attention, Learning, and Memory) which focused on advancing our understanding of neurocognitive deficits in children with ADHD.

 

Manuel is interested in studying substance use and addiction and plans to continue gaining experience in research in order to become a Clinical Psychologist. 

Nasreen Hidmi / BReATHE Study Program Coordinator

Nasreen Hidmi is the BReATHE Study Program Coordinator. Nasreen Hidmi was the Program Coordinator for the Antecedents and Consequences of Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems Use (ACE) Project. Nasreen attended graduate school at FIU in which she received a Master of Science in Psychology degree through the Professional Counseling Psychology Master’s Program. During her internship programs at the Center for Children and Families at FIU and the College Reach-Out Program at Barry University, Nasreen received clinical training in treating children, adolescents, and their families with a variety of internalizing and externalizing disorders. Nasreen also received experience in research and data collection during her undergraduate studies as a research assistant in the legal psychology lab at FIU.

Nasreen’s interests are in expanding the availability of mental health resources for adolescents and their families through research and aspires to further her education in psychology.

Odette Delamo / BReATHE Study Intake Specialist

Odette Delamo is the BReATHE Study Intake Specialist. Odette was the Intake Specialist for the Antecedents and Consequences of Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ACE) Project. Odette received her Master of Science in Psychology degree through the Professional Counseling Psychology program. 

Through her internships at FIU’s Center for Children and Families and Jewish Community Services of South Florida, Odette has received clinical training and experience treating children, adolescents, and adults with internalizing and externalizing disorders. Odette also acquired research experience during her undergraduate studies as a research assistant and as the assessment coordinator for the Program for Attention, Learning, & Memory (PALM) at FIU. 

Odette’s interests are in learning more about and treating internalizing disorders among adolescents and young adults. 

Sasha Rivera / BReATHE Study Research Assistant

Sasha Rivera is a BReATHE Study Post-Bac Research Assistant. Sasha received her B.A. in Psychology from FIU. Sasha is currently a Master’s student in the Professional Counseling Psychology program and has clinical experience implementing behavioral and cognitive therapy for children with ADHD and ASD in the Center for Children and Families at FIU. Her current clinical practicum involves implementing counseling sessions with adult males who have substance use disorders. She is also part of the Florida National Guard and has been serving in the United States military since 2022. She plans to continue gaining experience in counseling to fulfill her goal in becoming a licensed mental health counselor.
