ReACHing Students

The ReACH Lab is committed to cultivating respect for one another and appreciates that diverse lived experiences, backgrounds, perspectives, and approaches fuel excellence and innovation in psychological science. This means building a lab that is representative of our current society and is active in solving scientific problems that contribute to the well-being of all adolescents. The ReACH Lab believes we have an obligation to include voices that have been marginalized and foster environments that are supportive, enriching, and enjoyable.

Given the multidisciplinary nature of the ReACH Lab, students are exposed to a multitude of perspectives including developmental psychopathology, genetics, neuropsychology, sociology, personality, data analysis, and addiction. This provides an invigorating environment for students to produce creative and innovative research. While graduate students from this lab typically pursue careers in an academic or applied research setting, the collaborative training environment provides a foundation on which to pursue careers in more clinical or industry settings. The ReACH lab prepares students for various career paths through regularly scheduled individual meetings, weekly team meetings, training in sophisticated data analytic methods, grant writing experiences, collaborating on peer-reviewed publications, and presenting at national scientific conferences.

The ReACH Lab is currently recruiting Clinical Science graduate students for fall 2023. We are particularly committed to mentoring students who identify with groups underrepresented in academia. We believe that all lived experiences are unique and necessary for the production of higher quality research that enhances the relevance of outcomes with greater practical impact in the communities we serve. With this in mind, a holistic review of application materials will be conducted. Students are welcome to discuss relevant lived experiences in their personal statements We are particularly interested in applicants who have prior research experience and applicants should discuss how their research interests overlap with work conducted in the ReACH Lab. Please email Dr. Trucco if you are interested in learning more (etrucco@fiu.edu).

We are currently not recruiting undergraduate research assistants.
